A young French woman is one of many passengers aboard a luxury ocean liner sailing from the US to France. She is returning home to try and help her brother, a wrongly accused fugitive from the French authorities. Also aboard the ship is a young man who followed her on board, he who doesn't know her problem but is in love with her. Another person who followed her on board is Pasha, an Arab who plans on blackmailing her with the knowledge of her brother's whereabouts, unless she hands over a family heirloom, a black pearl ring, which he wants to sell to a rich passenger to obtain some needed cash. There is another person on board who may be able to tie all the loose pieces of the story together.
