The fire is a movie about a religious ceremony called Polke held in a village in the northwest Iran. In the ceremony participants make fiery balls out of clothes and turn them around their head in the day of Ashura to mourn the death of Hussein, third Shia Imam. It seeks to discover bonds between lives of the participants and the problems they face in nowadays Iran as well as how a ceremony in a theocratic government can go against the meanings that the government attempt to associate with it.
