Maro, the proud, statuesque foster daughter of the powerful chief-herder Panos, is the talk of the town. Desperately in love with her, the community's young president promises Maro the stars and the moon to accept his marriage proposal; however, Maro only has eyes for Panos' handsome son, Liakos. In the meantime, the feared "Ghost of the Mountain", an armed-to-the-teeth man accused of murder, sets foot in the village, driven by desire.
