Ecuador is at a crossroads. In the midst of a devastating economic crisis, the country has to choose between two radically different presidential candidates - Andrés Arauz, a young leftist economist, and Guillermo Lasso, a wealthy right-wing banker running for the third time. With unfettered access to Arauz's campaign, the film offers a granular picture of postmodern Latin American politics as well as the timid candidate's difficulties in imposing his vision and discourse. It follows a gripping, nail-bitter campaign, in which Arauz struggles to challenge the old guard, tormented by a recent past dominated by specters and betrayals.
