The Devil Dodger

Snowstorm, Arizona, was Silent Scott's town, and among the activities of his dance-hall was Fluffy, a little dancer from waifdom, whom he favored and protected. Morals were not discussed in Snowstorm, before the "Devil Dodger" came. The Rev. Roger Ingraham, an ascetic, sought health in the west, and after a few spiritual observations, decided to check the downward speed of the town. His sign announcing Sunday services was shot down. But Fluffy was curious, and church was a novelty demanding inspection. Silent Scott resented her interest in religion, broke into the services, and ordered her home. The young minister walked into his glare of hatred and seized his arm. The die was cast. When Scott warned the people to "Keep away from that devil dodger," the minister realized the odds against him and became reckless in his discouragement. He provoked a quarrel with Scott (noted for his quick gunplay), but as the latter drew, Fluffy stepped between them. A game of cards decided that the "Devil Dodger" should live. Fluffy took him to her cabin and nursed him back to health. Love grew naturally. Jealous of his treasure, Scott came to kill, but hearing a prayer for Fluffy's salvation, surrendered to his better self and departed. Hearing that his bitterest enemy was in town, looking for trouble, he went after him, true to his reputation. Fluffy was torn by two loves. The minister realized that his claim was secondary and that she could not stand the test of Scott's death. So he interfered with the feudists and was killed. The man and girl started across the mountains seeking a new and better life.

Amish Stud: The Eli Weaver Story

1 hr 25 mins
While he's out fishing with his Mennonite friend Jeremiah Peters on the morning of 2 June, Amish Eli Weaver receives a message via a call to Jeremiah's cell phone that Eli's wife, 29-year-old Barbara Weaver, has been found shot dead in their bed. While the Amish elders want to deal with the issue solely within their community, the Wayne County Sheriff's Department is forced to investigate in the murder having taken place in their jurisdiction, the two investigators being Detectives Bruce London and Mike Maxwell. What is subsequently shown is the current investigation interspersed with flashbacks of Eli and Barbara's life, which Eli admits to the investigators was not always perfect. Those flashbacks show that prior to their marriage, Barbara wanted to marry for romantic love, which is not the Amish way. Eli seemingly wanted the same; he was the black sheep of his family in not always adhering to Amish strictures. London and Maxwell have their theories of who the murderer is; they suspect Eli, who isn't reacting like a typical grieving husband and father, but they know they'll have problems finding evidence because the Amish Eli will have no digital footprint; and the community's sole telephone is a public one for emergencies, usable by anyone. They hope that the unofficial traditional Amish communication network, rampant gossip, will provide some clues. They find that some talk emerges in the form of a collection of women not in the community who were a part of Eli's secret life as the Amish Stud.
