On August 21, 1910, in the small village of Osa de la Vega (Cuenca province), José María Grimaldos was seen on his way to the neighboring village of Tresjuncos-and then "disappeared." His family pressed the local gendarmes, who, during a rushed investigation, blamed two men, Gregorio Valera and Leon Sanchez. Through violent interrogation and torture, they were forced to confess to the murder. On May 25, 1918, they were sentenced to 18 years. In 1926, José María Grimaldos was seen living peacefully in the neighboring village. The film is based on true events.
