The Connection

In 1975, in Marseille, the Juvenile Court Judge Pierre Michel is promoted to the Organized Crime Court. His experience with heroin addicted youths makes him obsessed to arrest the drug lord Gaëtan "Tany" Zampa, who brings morphine from Turkey and transforms into heroin in Marseille and then sends to New York. However, he finds the Chief of Police Lucien Aymé-Blanc and his team highly demotivated since Tany is untouchable due to the lack of evidence to prove that he is a criminal. When his C.I.'s are murdered by Tany's gang, Michel decides to arrest his small-time distributors to affect the income of the gang. The gangster Le Fou leaves Tany's gang afraid of Michel and there is a war between them, culminating with the arrest of Le Fou. Along the years, Michel has a breakdown due to his workload and the relationship problem with his wife. Until there is a change of government and Pierre Michel returns with the support of the DEA and learns that there are police agents in Tany's pocket.
