Spring 1945. The end of World War II is approaching. In Western Belarus, near Grodno, there is a gang headed by a hardcore criminal, a former accomplice of the Germans, Boleslav Kruk. At the same time, the corpse of a certain Sudin was found in Moscow, who turned out to be a repeat offender named Mordyonok. Investigating his death, the operative group of the Moscow Criminal Investigation Department, headed by Colonel Ivan Danilov, enters a former military pilot Chistyakov (aka Altunin), who has become a deserter and accomplice of bandits, connected with Mordyonok and Boleslav Kruk.
