It's not likely you'll see a chorus line of singing cobras again, so you may as well pay for a rental of Snake Island. At times silly -- no, it's silly all the time -- this handsomely produced creature feature is far from scary but is often amusing, albeit in a stomach-tightening way. William Katt, his California surfer aura in high-gear, and Wayne Crawford, who also directed, produced, and had a hand in the writing (which explains why he gets to be naked in the hot tub with comely Kate Connor), make for a ruggedly manly pair of heroes in a story that has no bad guys, except for the snakes. And there are plenty of them! Clearly not endorsed by The Discovery Channel, Snake Island depicts a small tropical island jealously guarded by cobras, coral snakes, boa constrictors and all manner of other slithering, venomous reptiles that have a community consciousness about getting humans out of the place. Hey, it could happen. The occasional goofiness -- the snake rising taller and taller from under a man's sheet while his bride thinks its his you know what -- undermines any effort to really, really scare anyone. You know what you're in for.
