The next dead letter the team deals with contains divorce papers for a Caitlin sent two years ago from who is presumably her now ex-husband Joey. Also included in the envelope is a wedding band, again presumably Joey's which he is returning to her. Able to track down Caitlin "Castelucci" as the owner of an Italian restaurant, the team is surprised to find Joey, and not Caitlin, there, he still her husband. He pleads with them not to give the package to Caitlin as he never told her about he beginning the divorce proceedings at what was a rough patch in their marriage. This case affects Oliver and Shane, who finds what she assumes is the letter Oliver wrote to Holly last summer in the dead letter pile. What Shane decides to do about the letter may affect Oliver and Holly's futures and thus her own. The case also affects Norman who can see Rita slipping through his fingers in she being swept off her feet by Ramon, Norman proverbially needing a bigger broom if he has any hope with Rita even before any verbal declaration of feelings has been made between them.
