Natalie, whose mother is engaged to Wallace Brewster, the reform candidate for mayor, is seventeen and highly dislikes being treated like a child, especially from her mother's fiance. When she meets the opposition candidate's son, Lance Christie, he persuades her to secure some papers incriminating Brewster. She does so and sends the papers to his opponent. Soon her conscience bothers her, and she goes to Christie to retrieve the papers and discovers that they were falsified. After receiving Brewster's forgiveness and seeing him win the election, she decides to make him her idol.
