Three years later and here we are, senior year, where social media influence is at an all-time high, race relations in America is tested every day and Drake, yea I said it Drake, has a new song on the radio every week. You see, Grandview High School is like Degrassi or any homogeneous, upper-middle-class suburban town with little to no diversity. We have teen drama, high school rivalries, egos, drugs, insecurities, and all the other things that adults tell us not to worry about yet plague us, teenagers. But, of all the drama and setbacks that will occur this school year, nothing will compare to her story. At Grandview High School, the name Ashley White will go down in history as an urban legend. Ashley was the popular girl. Every guy wanted her, and most girls wanted to be friends with her. One night, Ashley ends up meeting a new student from Grandview High School at a Halloween party. After going on a date with this new guy, Ashley wakes up ten shades darker, unrecognizable to her family and herself. Throughout the series, Ashley must learn to navigate in her new skin while balancing past relationships, family, bullying, social injustices, and her future. To the world, Ashley isn't a white woman trapped in a black body; she is just another brown skin teenager searching for her place in the world.
