Lord, Give Me Patience

Gregorio is a very conservative banker from Madrid (Spain's capital, at the center of the country), supporter of Real Madrid's soccer team, and full of right-wing ideas. He and his more-comprehensive wife María have three children: Sandra, who is married to Jordi, a Catalonian supporter of the Barça's soccer team (Real Madrid's main rival); Alicia, a free-spirited sweetheart who is dating Leo, a perroflauta (Spanish for dreadlock) anti-system and anarchist Andalusian; and Carlos, a sensitive gay who is the boyfriend of Eneko, a Black man born in Basque Country whose parents are from Senegal. After María's sudden death, the family moves to San Lúcar de Barrameda (Andalucia, south to Spain) for María's burial and to fulfill María's last wish: for them to spend a family bonding weekend together. But the young people's different secrets will complicate this: Sandra is pregnant, and she and Jordi will move to Barcelona for work; Alicia wants to break up with Leo, who has fallen in love with Alejandro, a tourist who is passing through town; and Carlos and Eneko are engaged. Helped by peculiar Father Salcedo and María's ghost, Gregorio tries to be more open-minded and accepting toward his very special sons-in-law.
