Prithvi Raj Kapoor is the Senapati of a Kingdom ,who falls in love with a Bhil tribal girl,warrior and beautiful ,and against all opposition marries her at the cost of renunciating his powerful post of General.The kingdom falls prey to treachery by the Mahamantri ,who plots to kill the infant prince and thus makes the widow queen sign the unquestionable administration of the kingdom to him.The Senapati comes to rescue the prince,takes him to the deep forests and starts leading a life of an ascetic to bring up the heir to the throne.Meanwhile his wife gives birth to a daughter ,Durga and the Rajmata too joins her ,all of them living in exile away from the General.The plot revolves around how the kingdom is restored to its proper heir,the love of Durga and the Prince ,the ultimate victory of truth and justice,and reunion of families.
