Alone in front of the camera, Jean-Luc Godard speaks. Like Power of Speech, Scenario for the Film Passion is a film about Godard's voice-insistent, irritating, and fascinating. Mixed with the dialogues and the music from the film Passion, this voice tries to answer the question: where does the screenplay come from? Godard speaks about great image-makers: the filmmakers Dreyer and Wim Wenders, and the painters Edward Hopper and Pierre Bonnard. Godard, accompanied by his wife and muse Anne-Marie Miéville, films the actress Myriam Roussel-future actress of "Hail Mary"-while she irons, types, and reads. He then speaks about Marguerite Duras, Freud, and Françoise Dolto, and listens to music by Bach and Schumann.
