Seattle PD detective Jake Killian and his forensic team initially see no reason to doubt the fatal car accident of multimillionaire philanthropist Natalie Billings, whom Ruby was to interview, being an accident caused by cardiac arrest, but the latter points out bizarre aspects. Original heir was her sister, now broke, but a new will in the private vault gives all to an ocean charity, except a million each for lover Dr. Steve McClurren and the housekeeper-confident. The poison was administered by smoothie, which she drunk at the gym, where the bar is run by charming, budding painter Roger Davis, whose medication includes the poison, who rowed with Nathalie as she rejected a commissioned painting. The very cup is found on his boat, but that's too easy.
