During a hot summer in 1950s Indiana, 14-year-old Ralph and his best friends Flick and Schwartz decide to get their working papers, land their first job, and take the first step into adulthood. Although this means that Ralphie will probably miss the family's annual fishing trip to Ollie Hopnoodle's Haven of Bliss resort in Lake Michigan, the boys work their fingers to the bone, daydreaming about all the things they'll buy with their money. However, the dream soon turns into a nightmare, and as if that weren't enough, Fuzz-head, the family mascot, runs away, and their rackety jalopy is utterly untrustworthy. Will things work out as planned?
