Sarah has a panic fear of flying and a new love, Tom, to whom she hides this weakness. To start her new life with him and his young daughter with a vacation in Cape Verde, she joins a support group that includes war veteran Edward and influencer couple Alfons and Coco. After many simulations, the day arrives when the group is supposed to board a real plane. Charles, who is only leading the group on a temporary basis, is visibly overwhelmed by his explosive, panicky charges. To make matters worse, Sarah's lies are exposed when Tom sees her in Charles' arms at the airport-though Charles is only trying to calm her down. The flight, planned as a short trip to Iceland, is hellish - with turbulence, alcohol excesses, panic attacks and fellow passengers vomiting. Finally landing in Reykjavík, the return flight is canceled because of bad weather and flight equipment problems. The group has to spend the night in a luxury hotel near the airport, surrounded by wintery volcanic landscape. But now Edward's old war traumas from the Falklands are coming back to haunt him. He attacks the overwhelmed group leader Charles, whom he blames for everything. Sarah tries to make her own way out, but fails in the snowstorm. The only way to get back to Tom in London and save their love is a cargo plane, but its pilot is completely untrustworthy, especially as the weather continues to deteriorate. The return journey promises to be a bumpy one.
