Doug is a thirty-something guy who has always shirked life's responsibilities. Somewhat implausibly, he is living with Abby, a gorgeous younger girl who is devoted to his need, in 'every department'. But despite Abby's obvious charms, Doug is still obsessed with his ex-partner Jill, who has left him for another man. But something isn't quite right - Abby is just a bit too perfect. Doug is still bitter about Jill leaving him, and is in denial that their relationship is really over. When Jill meets Abby for the first time, we realize that Abby is actually one of a new generation of advanced sex robots, with artificial intelligence. Jill is concerned about Doug giving up on real relationships for an artificial one, but also finds herself a bit jealous of Abby. When Doug learns that Jill is pregnant with his child, he must decide between his perfect Abby and Jill, with all the responsibilities that brings. He chooses Jill, responsibilities and parenthood, but Abby still gets to play an unexpected part in their new life.
