When Runt is sent by his wife to seek employment, he takes great care to avoid all places where he may find work. Even the "Help Wanted" columns of the paper are distasteful to him as the only part of the paper in which he is interested is the Sporting Page. Plump on the other hand is so industrious that he could sleep at any position he ever held. Plump succeeds in rescuing Florence, the stenographer, at the garage from rough treatment at the hands of some striking employees, for which act he is rewarded by the position of mechanic. While Runt is enjoying himself in the park. Mrs. Runt's brother, whom Runt has never met, arrives at the Runt home and takes his sister out for a ride in a taxi. During their ride the car becomes stalled in the park near where Runt is reading, and the chauffeur is induced by the delegate of strikers to quit the job, so he deserts the car. When the garage receives the hurry call for help from Mrs. Runt's brother, Plump is sent out with his little "Flivver" to aid them. As Plump knows less about an auto than he does about the North Pole, his efforts to drive through the streets are laughable in the extreme. Runt seeing the antics of Plump and the little "Flivver" follows the big fellow to the spot where Mrs. Runt and her brother are anxiously awaiting help. When Runt sees his wife in the arms of an unknown man his anger knows no bounds and in his rage he starts to make a general "cleanup" of the entire crowd. In the melee that follows. Plump's auto explodes blowing Plump back to the garage while Mrs. Runt succeeds in calming her irate little husband sufficiently long enough to introduce her brother to him and explain the entire situation to the satisfaction of Runt.
