The Executioner of Lille
Anne, a young boarder in a convent, escapes and spends the night with a young lieutenant, Herbert. The officer is reported deserter and sentenced to ten years imprisonment, because of his lover's false evidence. His brother, the hangman from Bethunes, swears he'll avenge him. Anne marries the count De La Fère. Herbert is desperate and commits suicide. The hangman reveals the truth to Anne's husband and the hussy has to escape. She becomes the notorious Milady, the spy in the pay of the Cardinal De Richelieu. But the musketeers are to be reckoned with and La Fère is none other than Athos.
