In 1979, the military government allows the formation of new politic parties. The liberal Senator Viana, under the coordination of the efficient political journalist of the newspaper "Correio da Nação", Carlos Santana, is trying to make alliances to form a new party of opposition to the government. In this period of exaggerated nationalism, Senator Machado accuses the international corporation United Mining of corruption in the process of exploration the iron ore in Gangorra.
