Master and Man Reviews

The Lupino brothers play a pair of tramps who live along the Thames River. The two ne'er-do-wells end up being mistaken for cultured gentlemen. They attend a party thrown by society woman Bennett, and end up stopping some arsonists from torching her mansion. Wallace Lupino wrote the comedy specifically to fit his and his brother's talents, but the humor is unoriginal. The film pushes for laughs, but the idea is rooted in silent two-reel comedy, a more practicable forum for the material (imagine the scenario as a Charlie Chaplin vehicle, for instance).
