Two generations after his death, children still hum and sing his songs: Mani Matter, the Bernese troubadour, is an icon. Many well-known Swiss musicians have covered his lyrics, some with resounding success, such as Stephan Eicher with "Hemmige." Who doesn't know "Alpeflug," "Dr Ferdinand isch gstorbe," or "Sidi Abdel Assar vo El Hama"? His ingenious, profound, and humorous lyrics still captivate audiences today. In 1972, Mani Matter died in a car accident at the age of only 36. The documentary film explores this fascinating and complex personality and shows the tension between his bourgeois life and his artistic existence. Statements from relatives complement the numerous interviews with friends and musicians from that time.
