Malcolm Frager: American Pianist chronicles the award-winning artist's life, work and legacy. Frager's talent and scholarship was honored with numerous prestigious awards. He won the Piano Competition in Geneva (1955), the Michaels Memorial Award in Chicago (1956), the Leventritt Competition in New York City (1959), and the Queen Elisabeth Music Competition in Brussels (1960). Frager's visited the Jagiellonian Library in Kracow, Poland where his influence and perseverance uncovered a cache of more than a thousand original manuscripts by Bach, Beethoven, Mozart and Schumann that were removed by the Nazis and hidden in a castle near Cracow, Poland. These works were considered lost until his discovery in 1978. In 1987, Frager received the Golden Mozart Pin from the International Mozart Foundation in Salzburg. Frager died at the age of 56 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
