Magudi

A fine sentimental drama. One of the early movies of both Nalini and Mohan. Both rose to dizzy heights later . Here Mohan is a poor flute player in a drama troupe led by Vadivukarasi and others. Though poor with questionable character , Vadivu takes good care of him as her younger brother . Nalini , the local landlord's daughter is a good singer and she meets Mohan and starts liking him.Slowly she realises that she loves him and bids good bye to her own fiance much to her rich father's anger . Both are marired by Vadivu and start their life together . Mohan later wants money for Nalini's delivery but when he goes to the local money lender, he asks Mohan to loan his flute and never to play it again till his loan is repayed. Very honest and desperate ,Mohan agrees. Nalini gives birth to a son . When a snake is about to bite that son, Nalini asks Mohan to play his flute so that it will slither away but he refuses without revealing the reason. This leads to misunderstandings and confusions between the two and Nalini leaves him. Both face a lot of hardships alone . Later when fate brings them close to sing together for a movie , they clear their prolems and unite again . Nalini understands his predicament of not being able to play the flute . A fine movie over all with a lot of sentiments thrown in . Vadivu, Gandhi mathi, Thengai Srinivasan are a deligh to watch in their side roles. Over all a family fare .
