In 1948, Louis-Ferdinand Céline was accused by the French courts to have collaborated with the Nazis and was exiled in Denmark with his wife, Lucette. Milton Hindus, a young American Jewish writer who admires and supports him fervently joins in the depths of the Danish countryside, with the intention to write a memoir about their meeting.
