Patricia, the daughter of Irish aristocrat Sir Stephen O'Neill, secretly marries a poor man against her father's wishes. After Stephen has his son-in-law arrested on false charges, Patricia leaves for the United States. Before reaching her destination, Patricia dies while giving birth to her daughter, Patsy. Eighteen years later, Patsy is living in the Bowery district of New York City with the family of her employer, Mike Rorke, who owns a newsstand. Meanwhile, Sir Stephen dispatches his nephew, Arthur Hawks, to find his granddaughter. Police Inspector Hahn learns of Arthur's search and persuades Patsy to impersonate the lost heiress. When Patsy arrives in Ireland, she is surprised to discover that she really is Sir Stephen's granddaughter. Arthur finds himself in love with Patsy, and they are destined for a happy future.
