The true story of American television journalist Betty Rollin and her mother, who was diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer in 1981. Due to her deteriorating condition and completely ineffective treatment, Ida Rollin began contemplating suicide. Despite efforts, her doctors refused to sign off on assisted suicide. Ultimately, Betty convinced a family friend-a doctor-and in 1983, they together helped her mother fulfill her final wish. The film is based on the book written by Betty Rollin in 1985. Since her mother's death, Betty has been actively involved in the Death with Dignity movement, advocating for the legalization of death with dignity laws.
