The year is 1192. John Lackland (Daniele Dublino) seizes the English throne, believing the rightful ruler, his brother Richard the Lionheart (Lars Bloch), to be dead. When he learns that Richard is languishing in the dungeon of the German emperor and can be ransomed for a large sum of money, he refuses to pay and orders the messengers, among them Sir Henry of Nottingham (Giuliano Gemma), to be murdered. The plan fails, and Sir Henry escapes to Sherwood Forest, which belongs to his estates. There he joins forces with a daring group of persecuted Anglo-Saxons. Among them is the fat and bold Father Tuck (Mario Adorf). He soon becomes one of the count's most important allies, who, under the name Robin Hood, spreads fear and terror among the power- and money-hungry traitors to the king with his raids. With the help of his new friends, he spreads the news of John Lackland's betrayal among the people. The ransom is collected. But the villainous brother collects the money and captures Robin Hood, alias Sir Henry. To save him, whom she has loved for a long time, from the gallows, the beautiful Marianne of Manson (Silvia Dionisio) agrees to marry the Norman Sir Robert (Luis Dávila), whom she hates. Her wedding gift is to be the release of Robin Hood, a promise that no one believes will be kept. But during the wedding ceremony, Robin's friends, the archers, launch a truly spectacular rescue operation.
