In 1962, a Catholic boys' boarding school idyllically situated and hidden in the mountains of northern Argentina, is long past its prime. Once, more than 250 adolescents were taught there by twenty-five priests; today, just four monks care for a dozen wild pubescent boys, more or less haphazardly. The shady Father Martin suddenly arrives at the school unannounced, and it soon becomes apparent that he is particularly interested in the attractive outsider Franz. The boy is still reeling from the fact that Father Lucio, to whom he felt particularly attracted, was expelled for sexual misconduct. It gradually becomes clear that Father Martin's special interest in Franz is not sexual in nature, but rather based on the fact that they both share common roots in Nazi Germany. Father Martin's intentions, however, are not as innocent as he likes to claim.
