A small village in the Ardennes, buried under snow, prepares to celebrate the coming of spring. To mark the end of winter, the villagers perform a ritual ceremony in which they must set a bonfire ablaze. But inexplicably, the fire won't catch. From that moment on, life in the small community unravels: seeds refuse to grow, animals fall ill, and the army is called in to cull them. Alice, Thomas, and Octave - three village children - struggle to make sense of a world collapsing around them.
