The Ballad of homeless is a short animation film. It's a poetic and surreal journey into the lands devastated by the earthquake in Emilia (2012), through the eyes of a child (Tommy, the protagonist) and his friend, a snail. Together they face and discover the values of solidarity, hope and will see the rebirth of the land. Tommy and his friend (the symbol of slowness and tenacity that moves and does not give up) then face a a building journey of self-knowledge where they will be witnesses of what happened in Emilia. It will be a journey to understand how to overcome the fear. Then moral lesson is (as evidenced by the stories of the earthquake victim) that only solution that has helped everyone to believe and do not lose hope was the solidarity and not to isolate (as instead he wanted to do our protagonist initially). On the way he therefore find strength and courage. They will fly, walk from one set to another. Leitmotif of the story will be every time when they come to a place they see despair, sadness and loneliness; but Tommy will bring to the earthquake victim joy, light, hope. Then he will understand that every time one of his simple and harmless gesture is a great symbol of rebirth for the community, thus realizing the great value of solidarity. Gestures that arise from the spontaneous reaction to the question "what would you do if you were not afraid?".
