Keeping Love Alive

This film focuses on o remarkable concert by Elisabeth Welch in London's Almeido Theatre. Between her famous numbers (Summertime, Love for Sole, Solomon, Miss Olis Regrets, you name it ... ) the star reflects on her extraordinary show business career which began in 1923 when she introduced the "Charleston" in Broadwoy show "Running Wild" and, thanks to good hip surgery and an unflagging voice, continues to the present day. Welch was Paul Robeson's leading lady in the thirties, and may be best known for her somewhat later performance of "Stormy Weather" in Derek Jormon's "The Tempest" (1979). She continues to charm audiences with her unique blend of musical skill and sophistication, now enriched by a wealth of experience and the satisfaction of having overcome a crippling illness.
