An elderly man is transporting a coffin, feeling alienated from his future as well as from his past, which he sees as a burden of tender memories. He is now playing his last card. A young taxi driver who becomes involved in the game, with daring recklessness manages to rejuvenate the old man's past, but nothing more. In a village, the two men meet a crazy whore, Karkalou, whom one of the two men once loved and whom the other will love now. The game is up, as is the old man's present. He is nothing but a dead-man-to-be carrying his own coffin.
