In the Copenhagen of the 50s, the 17-year-old working-class boy Johnny Larsen walks around and is growing up. He has dropped out of school and must try to find a place, but the job market is tough, and so is love. There is no more help at home, because the only thing he sees in his parents is an image of how he does not want to be.
