Inside Information Reviews

Carey is a police chief wary of rookie cops. His precinct has been plagued by jewel robberies, so who should come along to solve things but rookie Foran. Foran has fixed a transfer for himself in order to be closer to Carey's niece, Lang. Richards is a jeweler and secretly the head of the gang of thieves. When one of his flunkies botches a robbery, Foran traces the crook through a boot mark left at the scene of the crime. He's promoted to undercover work, much to the chagrin of Carey, but is suspended when the clue leads nowhere. Continuing the investigation anyway, Foran is about to break the case when Carey puts him in a cell for breaking suspension. But while incarcerated Foran makes a clay model of Richards, based on police alias records, and proves to Carey who the real culprit is. Nicely acted and directed, despite the cliched plotline.
