Joe Lourik is a cab driver who is arrested for robbery and assault after taking money from a company that tried to cheat him. He escapes and goes to San Diego, where he becomes involved in several forms of crime. Upon going to Sacramento, he meets and falls in love with Laura Benson, a girl who works as a clerk at a flower shop. Since she loves him in return, Joe decides to go straight. However, it's only a matter of time before his criminal activities begin to catch up with him. The question is, how long will it be before his time runs out?
