An episodic film about 15 so-called "monsters of modern Rome," with Gassman and Tognazzi playing most of these monsters. There is a film crew that uses an old woman and repeatedly throws her into a pool, a man who watches soap operas while his wife fools around with other men, a man with a large family he cannot afford to support who gets his wife pregnant again so he will get a larger welfare check, a priest who goes on TV to talk about vanity, two unsuccessful womanizers, a young boy who kills his father, and more. They all act pathetic in large and small ways, and it's hard to get involved in a film where everyone is a disgusting jerk.
