With the secrets of a nation entrusted to his care, General Debility cautiously places them in his bureau as his charming friend, the Countess Mudge, enters his room. Her fascinating manner entirely puts the old chap off his guard and she discovers the hiding place of the papers. The old General's wife, tired of his everlasting flirtations, decides to divorce him and with the divorce papers calls on the famous detectives, Plump and Runt, to serve them. At the same time the General discovers that his valued plots are missing and also employs Plump and Runt to find them. Not gifted with any great amount of intelligence our two worthies manage to muddle things up in splendid style. They find the pious, mistake them for the divorce papers, are themselves robbed, and finally blunder into the right mind, as the General's wife, changing her mind in regard to the divorce, and returns to them the missing plots which she fondly imagined were her divorce papers.
