In this promotional documentary, Hong Kong is portrayed as a bustling, energetic modern place, and this is conveyed through a fast-paced editing style and driving musical accompaniment. As the then British enclave in China is also portrayed as a new center for the fashion industry, this accompaniment also takes on an 'pop-like' tenor. Hong Kong Style is pure public relations, with little or no critical social or political content, in which the colonial government is portrayed as playing a constructive and benevolent role in the affairs of a confident and gregarious colony.
