Hearts and Planets

The sky gazer is in his observatory when his daughter comes in, gives him a kiss, and upon hearing a whistle, she goes to her room and out on the balcony where she sees spooney Mr. Walrus. She beckons him and goes down to meet him at the door. Father is on the job looking through the telescope, aiming through the park, he sees a couple of lovers and sweeping, he discovers his daughter and Mr. Walrus making love. He follows them up with the glass and sees them go to the parson's house. The parson comes out and asks them inside and is about to marry them. Father rings up the parson, disturbing the ceremony, and tells the parson to wait that he forbids the marriage and he immediately starts out for the parsonage. The parson asks Mr. Walrus and the daughter to wait. Father comes in and orders his daughter home. Walrus follows her but father comes between them outside the door and again orders her home leaving Mr. Walrus in tears. Mr. Walrus conceives a scheme to taunt the father with fire works and finds the daughter a willing accomplice. They go on the roof of the house to make ready. Father starts to get his observation ready. Mr. Walrus fixes up painted sky and starting off the fire works before it, father sees it through the telescope. He thinks it is an astronomical discovery and telephones to the big observatory and tells them that a flock of comets are shooting this way. They look for the phenomenon but they cannot see it and he asks them to come over to his house to see it. The astronomers arrive and they go to the telescope just as Mr. Walrus starts off a pin-wheel, but Mr. Walrus goes a little too far and exposes his hand and the whole scheme is given away. The astronomers make their way to the roof after the schemers, but they stand them off with a lighted roman candle. They dare not approach. They then have some fire work battle. The house is about to catch fire, the girl comes down to the fire hose and puts it out. She then runs to the top of the house again and her father joins her hand and Mr. Walrus' and gives them his blessings.
