Bordeaux 1980: After an argument with her husband, Madame Morlaix falling off the window of her apartment. Everything points to an accident: the broken tilt ladder and crashed window. Inspector Louis Baroni, however, has doubts. He believes that husband Edouard killed his wife. Meanwhile, a drug scandal shatters the city, into which the highest circles seem literally to be involved. But Baroni continues to indulge in his obsession for the enigmatic widow.
