At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the city sleeps, this crusader of the night set out to protect citizens. He may not be a superhero with a cape but he definitely is a saver. Meet Ratnakar Budhaji Jadhav, an employee of Municipal Corporation, working in the Malaria Surveillance Department, as a Night Rat Killer. With the target of killing 30 rats per night and submitting them at the ward the next day morning to mark him present (HAJARI) for the day, at the job. Ratnakar, who is eager to be married, has already been rejected 20 times. 20 girls have already said no and have rejected him directly on his face. He has accepted all the rejections with all the dignity he could pose. Yet, when his aunt comes up with the 21st proposal of Swapnali Mohite, he falls in love with her and couldn't imagine being rejected by her. He pledges, if Swapnali rejects him, he would never think of marriage again. To be with Swapnali, to get married to her and to live with her forever, he shares only the half-truth about his job, he tells her about him working in the Malaria surveillance department but hides what his job demands out of him. Post marriage when he tried to get near her, he had a delusion, that, he had a rat in his hand. And he ran far away from her.
