Gold Diggin': For Love of Money

This provocative, edgy documentary film takes us inside the lives and minds of women and men who use their charms for financial gain and those who woo them. It shows how gold diggers come from all walks of life and every social class. It's not just the bombshell with the rich older man, nor the gigolo, but also the common woman or man. And in a failing economy, anyone with an income is a target. The documentary exposes how gold diggers operate and why they make the choices they make. There's Naomi, niece of notorious polygamist cult leader Warren Jeffs, whose remote Texas commune was raided by law enforcement in 2008 and 400 children were removed. Naomi reveals all from her nudist resort home - her escape from the cult at 13 and how money became her motivation. Carla's husband knew her a month before transferring his life savings into her account. Murphy, straight off skid row, found the price of being a kept man too high to pay. "GOLD DIGGIN': For Love of Money" shows how today's moral and political climate perpetuates the gold digging mentality, because money is front and center on the minds of the masses, as well as the media today. People who socked retirement money away in 401ks and IRAs are watching life savings dwindle. It's a time in which, when it comes to romance, pocketbook often overrules personality. Relationships are more about the bottom line when one's survival is at stake, and the most basic human relationships, like friendship and even family, can have a price. So now, "wanna play, gotta pay" is the mantra of many. Comedian Khalil Mack's humor transitions us through the film segments, along with commentary by interviewees with experience and strong opinions on the subject matter. A psychologist and relationship therapist also offer expert analysis. Gold digging isn't a new concept, but in this new millennium with abundant media creating an increasingly covetous society, it's taken on a more pervasive position in today's social scene.
