This war documentary series covers the German preparations for, and eventual conflict of, World War Two as seen through the eyes of the German Nation. This part covers the final years of the war and features the fighting at Anzio, bombing raids on Berlin by the USAF, the Normandy campaign, the bomb plot against Hitler and the final push by the Allies towards Berlin and the surrender of Germany. Culled from a wealth of German newsreel footage and private sources, these images have been carefully chosen to give a broad appreciation and insight not only into the operations of the German armed forces, but also to the impact of the conflict on the home front, especially as it was brought home to the civilian population through the Allied bombing campaigns between 1943 and 1945.
