Frisco Waterfront Reviews

Contrived tale about a successful politician, Lyon, who is a candidate for governor of California. As he is about to cast his vote (the polling place is in a tent), a truck careens off the road and crashes into the voting booth, critically injuring the candidate and his opponent. In a flashback, we see Lyon's rise to power from unemployed WW I veteran to powerful waterfront dockworker, finally becoming a lawyer and politician. Twelvetrees plays his long-suffering wife who leaves him during his rise to power. The tearful Twelvetrees, sudser queen of the early 1930s, was at the zenith of her career with this film. After 1935, her popularity plummeted; she appeared in only three more pictures during the decade.
