Freaky Friday

A forerunner of the 1980s place-changing comedies (LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON; 18 AGAIN; VICE VERSA, BIG), this offbeat Disney film stars Barbara Harris and Jodie Foster as a bickering mother and daughter who wish they could switch places for one whole day. Magically, their wish is granted, and in no time Ellen Andrews (Harris) is running around the neighborhood playing pranks, while her daughter Annabel (Foster) is wearing make-up and acting like an adult--all to the beffudlement of Ellen's husband Bill (John Astin). Of course, all these experiences help Annabel to acquire some maturity and Ellen to gain some insight into her daughter's actions. The film is filled with sight gags and features a wonderful performance by Harris.
