Eight years ago, Rosemonde survived an attempted rape by killing her attacker. She was subsequently cleared of all charges. A private television network, which buys the rights to real criminal cases in order to turn them into realistic fiction sponsored by a dog-food brand, has paid her a substantial advance in exchange for her story. Kevin, the creator of the program, asks one of his friends, Paul-a struggling, penniless writer-to collect Rosemonde's testimony and develop the script. But Rosemonde resists: she no longer wants to hear anything about her past. Paul then devises a plan to introduce her to the young actress who is supposed to play her role, hoping to discreetly draw confidences from her.
