Lt Col Dan "Noonan" Rooney, an F-16 fighter pilot in the Air Force Reserves, was returning home on a commercial flight from his second tour of duty in Iraq when he came face-to-face with the reality that families face when they lose a loved one who is serving in the military. The pilot announced the plane was carrying the remains of Corporal Brock Bucklin, and Rooney watched as Corp. Bucklin's casket was carried off the plane and met by his family, including Bucklin's young son, Jacob. Rooney looked at Jacob and thought of his own wife and daughters.
